Could Death be Glamourous?
If white is certainly the ‘in’ colour this summer, black and grey will be soon be back on the shelves and rails of our favourite shops when comes fall. The darker side, the rebels, the Gothic style, the underworld are indeed celebrated themes in the fashion industry this year. Skulls and cross bones symbols have therefore been reborn.
Commonly known as symbolising danger and death, these skulls can be seen on various garments of some of our beloved brands. Whether subtly placed amongst other characters on tee-shirts’ prints or on belts, it is more and more proudly displayed on garments. An amazing Wheels and Dollbaby black dress with printed white skull all over is a perfect illustration of this increasing trend.
Abigail Clancy, one of the England team football players’ WAGs, walking the streets in Germany, has certainly fallen for it, so have fashion icons like Kate Moss and Sienna Miller who have been seen wearing a McQueen scarf with these nice printed skulls. Be warned these skulls are invading us! As they increasingly appear on accessories, graffitis, computer screen savers, and big cinema posters with the soon released film ‘Pirates of the Caribbean – Dead Man’s Chest’, it is hard to resist to their charm!
I admit I was never a big fan of them but it is surely growing on me and I now find them quite glamourous! How about you?
